Our Daughters’ House exists to help young women between the ages of 18-25 who have aged out of foster care find stable housing. All applicants must be clean and sober for a minimum of 60 days prior to applying and be able to manage mental health issues with medication and outpatient counseling support. We aim to serve as a resource for those looking for an alternative to homelessness or unpredictability in their living situation. All applicants must be motivated and capable of learning necessary job skills that can be applied to the workforce. Lastly, our main focus here at ODH is to give opportunity for those who desire a greater future. We do this by requiring accepted help from mentors and life coaches. Daughter S

"ODH to me means peace. You can be yourself and work on your goals without outside distractions, which means alot."

Freshman

As a freshman, our daughter works on her initial goals, learning the dynamics of the home and making the decision to commit to self-improvement. Without outside distractions, she has weekly meetings with the Program Manager to focus on priority goals such as obtaining an ID, establishing residency, setting educational or career goals, building relationships, and securing a job or enrolling in school. Throughout this phase, she receives housing, transportation, food, and the guidance needed to achieve goals that would be challenging to accomplish on her own.

Junior

Here, our daughter continues maintain her commitment to contributing to the home's upkeep. She encourages those in earlier phases, assess her goals, and attends counseling. She balances school and/or work, cooking one dinner a week, and living on campus while she meet once a month with the  Program Manager. Her key goals include saving and accruing 80% of her income, obtaining a driving permit or license, building relationships with ODH staff and other Daughters, and working towards her career. She has housing, transportation, family meals, trust, support in goal achievement, and the possibility of obtaining a car.

Sophomore

Now, our daughter focus on achieving her priority goals! She signs a covenant with ODH, committing to contribute to the home's upkeep and program. Each week she continues to assess and pursue her goals, attend school or work, while meeting with the Program Manager. Her goals include building relationships, saving money, and preparing for adult living while she has access to housing, transportation, food scholarships, and the accomplishment of challenging goals with support.

Senior

For the last 6 months of her time at ODH, she actively assess her goals, and balance school and/or work with a maximum of 20 work hours, if attending school, and may apply for The Launch Pad if available. Her key goals for this phase include forming an Independent Living Plan with council, achieving community and stability, applying for the Next Phase Scholarship, and saving a specified lump sum.

She is rewarded with launching into independence with support!
